S&S Environmental Consultants provides our clients with sustainable environmental solutions throughout the life cycle of a project from initial site selection, permitting through long-term monitoring to conserve and improve resources and natural systems.

  • National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). S&S has extensive experience preparing environmental documents under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). We have managed and prepared Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) documents under NEPA. Our experience ranges from projects where NEPA review is triggered by the issuance of a federal permit to those funded by a federal agency and in need of a third party EIS document. We develop comprehensive environmental documentation that follows the Council of Environmental Quality guidance and guidelines, as well as the NEPA-implementing regulations and policies of various participating agencies. We also work with our clients to develop regulatory strategies, assist with scoping development, and support agency consultation and public participation efforts.
  • Environmental Planning/Natural Resource Planning. Natural resource management planning involves the development of a detailed plan for managing natural resources within a particular area or project site. We have done extensive work conducting such planning efforts for our clients.   By identifying clear objectives, evaluating resource uses, making action recommendations, and establishing long-term plans, S&S helps provide you with natural resource management solutions.
  • Environmental Site Assessments. S&S has extensive experience in conducting Phase I ESAs for a wide range of industrial, commercial, and agricultural properties, from less than an acre to hundreds of acres in size. S&S qualified environmental professionals accurately identify potential recognized environmental conditions (RECs) associated with the current or former use of the property, and report the potential environmental liabilities and risks associated with those RECs. For Phase II ESAs, we accurately and economically characterize our clients’ sites and determine the most effective and cost-efficient next steps to manage potential risk and liability.  Additionally, S&S has extensive experience facilitating site meetings with the regulatory community to formulate a consensus strategy for the path forward.

S&S assists renewable energy developers in meeting project challenges throughout the lifecycle of the project, from initial project selection through construction   S&S consults with clients to evaluate project sites to identify and mitigate permitting or resource constraints that can cause project delays or increase costs.  We assist our clients in developing efficient, individually tailored permitting and survey strategies so projects can meet or exceed project deliverable schedules. Additionally, we can provide environmental inspector oversight during construction.
  • Permitting and Regulatory Support. Recognizing that permitting can be a major hurdle in efficient project development, S&S works alongside our clients to identify the most efficient permitting strategy to meet any regulatory requirements or potential stakeholder concerns. We have experience in working with the client, its consultant team, and the permitting agencies in obtaining the requisite approvals in time to meet project schedules.
